It is certainly time for an update on George’s journey at GMAS!
George recently turned 2! He is now a toddler in human years and a teenager in dog years, with both of these stages being challenging at times, but generally he brings us all a lot of joy.
George currently spends a lot of his time with Year 4 and Year 5 students, supporting both the students and the staff. He enjoys the physical fitness sessions and the regular bush walks. George checks in regularly with the students by wandering around the classroom, have a snuggle or pat or even a sleep on the mat.
George has time each week with our School Psychologist, Shelley Carruthers, where he assists students visiting for their regular session. He provides a calming presence (usually!) and reduces anxiety within the students.
George also loves the duty days in Kindy and Pre-primary, where he helps the students dig in the sandpits, splash in the water and chase after balls. He also enjoys farewelling students as they head home at the end of the day.
George loves meeting new students and taking families on school tours. He has his preferred parts of the school, including all the places that he gets his special treats and visits his favourite staff and students.
George has begun to settle down quite a bit and understands what his job is at GMAS. He is not barking as much, walks better on a lead and returns when you call him. Out of school, he still loves spending time at the beach, both running and swimming, and perfecting his zoomies. George is very good around other dogs, being friendly and enthusiastic with his friends. He has plays dates with Harley, Sergio, Percy and Yogi all ‘fur-babies’ from GMAS. Some have suggested that he might need a brother or sister, but we will need to wait and see about that.
We certainly love George and appreciate that he is part of our community!
