Vocational Education and Training (VET) at GMAS

At Georgiana Molloy Anglican School (GMAS) we run an integrated program which allows students in Year 11 and 12 the option of completing both ATAR and nationally recognised VET qualifications.  Vocational training reflecting specific industry competency standards is delivered by Registered Training Organisations (RTO) and allows the students to:

  • develop industry specific skills
  • gain nationally recognised VET qualifications (Certificate I, II & III) and units of competency
  • develop employability skills and gain an understanding of the world of work. This is a valuable experience to assist with planning and pursuing career pathways
  • keep their options open to pursue vocational education (technical and further) or move into higher education (such as university)

Students have the opportunity to study the following courses:

  • Certificate II Building and Construction
  • Certificate II Business (Year 11)
  • Certificate III Business (Year 12 or after Completion of Certificate II Business)
  • Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care*
  • Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways
  • Certificate II Sport and Recreation
  • Certificate III Visual Arts

Students are given the opportunity to particpate in Work Place Learning ADWPL which is coordinated through our VET Department. Particpating in Workplace Learning allows students completing their endorsed program to gain points towards their WACE Certificate and assists students in job sampling. Our Year 10s participate in a Work Studies Program 1 hour per week to assist with career planning, preparation for Year 11/12 subject selections and provides an opportunity for ATAR and VET questions.

For further information, we encourage you to read our Year 11 and 12 Course Handbook.
